Family Refugee Services - Group Mentor

Overview //

Family Refugee Services needs mentor teams of 4-6 individuals to meet with a refugee family for a few hours each month totaling at least 4 hours per month over a 6-month period. After training, the mentor team will offer emotional and relational support, assist the refugee family with practical needs, and help the family positvely transition into and acclimate to their new community. The mentor team has the opportunity to learn about other cultures and make new friends. This program is in partnership with the resettlement agency, Lutheran Family Services.

Family Rescue Ministry - Group Mentoring

Overview //

Family Rescue Ministry (FRM) needs teams of 2-4 people to mentor families & seniors, whom we help get into permanent housing. Mentor teams offer friendship, encouragement & support to the family/senior. The time commitment is 7 mentor meetings in 6 months (about once a month). In these meetings, topics such as basic budgeting, goal setting and parenting are discussed. This is a wonderful opportunity for a family or small group to care for those in need through relationship development.

Harvest Farm - New Life Program Mentor

Overview //

Long-term volunteer mentors are needed for our New Life Program participants. We will match you with a program participant with whom you will meet at least twice a month for 3-6 months. You may meet with your mentee more frequently if you each so desire. Be available to listen and support your mentee as he works to overcome addiction and gain a new life.

Harvest Farm - Shuttle Driver

Overview //

Join us in changing lives in the name of Christ by helping men in the New Life Program with transportation assistance. Transport our participants to important activities such as recovery groups or church on an evening or weekends. The conversations you will have on the shuttle can encourage and empower men recovering from addiction and homelessness as they embrace a new life of sobriety and self-sufficiency. Drivers are required to complete safety training prior to starting the position and must be 25 years of age. Applicants must have a valid driver's license, a clean driving record and complete a background check. Male applicants are encouraged to apply.

Ministry Outreach Center - Food Organization Change Maker (Long Term Volunteer)

If you enjoy sorting and organizing, then we could really use your help! The Ministry Outreach Center is our central warehouse storing food, clothing, furniture and other needed items for people in need. Duties may include receiving donations and then sorting, stocking, and organizing the donated food items in our warehouse. You will also be participating in fulfilling food orders for the Food Services team. Some lifting and moving of boxes is required. Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds. Are you an experienced barber wanting to volunteer your skills to those in need? A barber is needed at The Crossing to provide haircuts to men in our New Life Program. Change Maker volunteers help children grow spiritually through our kids Bible study program. Help lead worship, song, prayer, scripture memorization, interactive activities, and crafts. The Crossing - New Life Program Mentor

Overview //

Adult men are needed to invest in the lives of the New Life Program participants through consistent one-on-one meetings (in person every other week) over a 6 to 9 month time period. Mentors are engaged, consistent, committed, accountable, and have a heart for encouragement. Mentors are provided training before beginning and ongoing support from our Mentor Coordinator.

The New Life Program provides a community-oriented environment for participants to
gain the skills, stability and self-esteem necessary to become productive, self-sufficient
members of society.

The Crossing - Whiz Kids Tutor

Overview //

Change Maker volunteers are paired one on one with children ages 6-12 as a tutor working specifically in areas of reading and math. Training and curriculum materials are provided. We partner with Whiz Kids to provide tutoring, Bible lessons, and other activities. Whiz Kids' mission is to help improve the lives of disadvantaged kids through academic tutoring, positive mentoring relationships, and spiritual nurturing. Volunteers are needed on Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 PM, August through April.
