Change Makers

Denver Rescue Mission has been serving the poor and needy in the Denver-metro area for more than 125 years. We rely on volunteers who share their passion and dedicate their time to positively impact those in need - they are the lifeblood of the Mission. Change Makers are volunteers who take it one step further. As a Change Maker, you'll commit to serving in a relational capacity with our guests and program participants for five months to one year or, sometimes, longer. You'll have the chance to invest in our Denver neighbors experiencing homelessness and change their lives in ways that extend far into the future. You'll also have the opportunity to grow personally and contribute to resolving systemic causes of homelessness in our city.

Change Makers are vital to the success of our Denver community, program participants, staff and the Mission as a whole. Will you join us?

Make a direct impact on someone's life by becoming a mentor at Denver Rescue Mission. Mentors provide relational, emotional and spiritual support to men, women and families participating in Mission programs. When you give your time and find that one-on-one connection, you will truly receive more than you give. Individual mentors and group mentors are needed throughout the year.

Youth Services

At the Mission, we serve children from ages 0 through 18 at our transitional facility, The Crossing. By volunteering, you'll provide ongoing support and care for children who need it most. We're looking for adults (ages 18+) to make an impact as a Youth Services volunteer.

Education is one of the core principles of our STAR and New Life Programs. We work with men, women, children and couples to further their education, improve life skills, maintain positive relationships, achieve their GED and much more. Explore our opportunities to see how you can change the course of someone’s life through education.

The Change Maker Experience

"I didn't realize I was making such an impact on my mentee's life. She's a teenager, so sometimes it is hard to tell. Until one day she told me she keeps all the movie stubs from our outings. That made me feel good and affirm that we have a special relationship." - Alexxa, Youth Mentor

"I've been tutoring men in the New Life Program to get their GEDs. I can see it in their eyes when they finally conceptualize a math or science fact. It's a great feeling for both of us!" - Carmen, GED tutor
